Elbert Caballero

Elbert Caballero

What got Elbert Caballero into painting can be summed up into one word: snacktime. As a hobby in his youth, Elbert would draw cartoons and even work on his classmates art projects. In return, they would shower him with snack food. Nowadays, the new father paints for a living.

One of his fondest memories of portraiture was perhaps also the most prophetic as well. In art school, he found painting his college professor's pet dog as the most challenging piece of his early career -- painting not from a photograph, but from the actual dog, running about the classroom! And, that was his first time painting with oil. He recalls that, while the finished artwork revealed his innate talent as a student, it was the fulfillment from looking at the finished work that was most memorable.

While he finds his inspiration most in natural beauty, such as the human face and nature, he explains that it's only natural to be inspired by the faces of dogs and cats. Painting comes easily to those who, like Elbert, love to create with their hands. His hope now is to further his work and talent through mypetinoil.com. "This is my fulltime job and even my free time activity," exclaims a happy Elbert. Happy too are the owners of Elbert's recent portraits.
